McGraths Real Estate (MRE) took the initiative to run a Corporate Charity Fundraiser to support the Farmers during the tough and challenging times brought about by the drought. MRE brainwave was to sell alpaca kisses at their headquarters in Edgecliff, Sydney.

Alpaca Kisses also 'came to the party' by sponsoring the fundraiser with the provision of a second alpaca and handler FOC.

​

It proved to be very popular across the McGrath branches.MRE went all out with the provision of hay bale props etc.

We have no doubt that Mimosa's spirit will pronk-on in the hearts of all those whom she met.

The Hawkesbury Gazette features St Monica's NSS Alpacas @ School experience.

Just prior to the 11am nation wide simultaneous storytelling of Matt Cosgrove's 'Alpacas with Maracas' Casper and Milo (a.k.a Macca & Al) say g'day to NSW's State Librarian Dr John Vallance.

Scholastic Australia produced a live broadcast of Matt Cosgrove's NSS2019 reading of 'Alpacas with Maracas' which occurred in the State Library of NSW.

​

Casper and Milo loved the reading and enjoyed entertaining a room full of 200 kids and their parents.

His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) presents a NSS Alpacas with Maracas 22nd Place sash to Co. and Chai.

This funky wedding was a big, bold celebration, rather than a formal, black tie event. Taking Jorge’s Peruvian background as inspiration, the duo spiced up their big day by centring their theme around the South American culture. This meant incorporating bright colours and authentic Peruvian pieces into the theme, and working around them. Ara had seen a photo of their arch piece and designed the rest of the palette around that.

Another key part of their theme was the absolutely adorable alpacas from Alpaca Kisses. The two decided to incorporate alpacas into their celebration due to their significance in Peruvian culture (…and to add just a touch of Peru!). These gorgeous creatures wore neckpieces made of bright pompoms and delighted the guests and the couple alike

We recently lost Milo (aka, the chocolate one) and Co. to an acute illness. We are all devastated! They were both important and much loved members of the team and friends to us all. Milo would always greet us with clucks and a warm kiss, he was super gentle and a great buddy to young Chai. Co. was unbelievable! You could not have asked for a more friendly and giving alpaca, he was simply extraordinary.

​

We extend our thanks to the Hawkesbury Veterinary Surgery for their support and thorough investigation. We have left no stone un-turned. An autopsy was commissioned as well as blood and tissue sample analysis. We are monitoring Chai and Casper very closely. We have become experts in the art of using a stethoscope, rectal thermometer and giving injections. Casper and Chai are not impressed!

​

Milo & Co. were afforded separate ceremonies beneath our oak tree and placed in graves dug by hand by their ‘human brothers’ in honour of their contribution to Alpaca Kisses, our lives and the reverence in nature that they inspired in all those who they met.

​

What an amazing career – within a two year period Milo had visited nursing homes, fallen asleep on camera when read to by author Matt Cosgrove, met a skyscraper full of animal lovers in the city, witnessed marriages, celebrated Latin America, celebrated birthdays, honoured a Bat Mitzvah and spent time in the Mitchell Reading Room of the State Library.

​

Co. had received a ribbon from His Excellency the GG inside Government House, laughed at Matt Gosgroves face-to-face reading of Alpacas with Maracas, rendered birthdays unforgettable for 1 - 50yr olds, recharged office workers in city skyscrapers, greeted VIPs in Grand Ball Rooms, surprised grooms by being the guest ring-bearer, lifted the spirits of aged care residents and brought joy to the Children at the Westmead Childrens Hospital.

​

Milo & Co. each take to the grave many of our secrets and worries as they were very good listeners, their understanding always acknowledged with a soothing “hmmm”. They definitely had that ‘alpaca magic’, that subtle art and gift of being able to dissolve stress and anxiety.

​

We will never forget them and we will miss them dearly. They were part of the founding team of Alpaca Kisses. We have no doubt their spirits will pronk-on in the hearts of all those who met them.

​

Thank you to all those who extended a hand or nose to Milo or Co. and initiated a 'kiss' or snuggle from them. They were always keen to go to gigs, always very curious and genuinely loved meeting you all.

​

Sometimes very special creatures enter our lives…their presence changes our hearts forever, and we can call ourselves blessed for having known them. For all of us here at Alpaca Kisses, Milo & Co. were definitely such creatures.

We are throwing everything we have at keeping Casper and Chai healthy and happy.

​

Co.'s histology results are back. The good news is that it appears to be toxin related rather then viral. So not a contagious or zoonotic agent. Our search now is for the source of the toxin (which the heart was susceptible to)  Everything points to intoxication occurring in mid Feb. The most likely culprit at the moment seems to be fungi (very small mushrooms - pictured) that appeared in the paddock after the first rain we had. 

​

Just suspicions at the moment, nothing conclusive yet.

​

​

For my birthday I got an Alpaca Bean Vac. Yawn....

(what I really wanted were diamonds and a night out)

Be a part of the hospital's story: Friday, 16 October 2020

​

The Children's Hospital annual Radiothon fundraising event is set for Friday, 16 October. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, they can no longer host an event inside the hospital so for the very first time, Radiothon will be hosted online.

Radiothon is a 12-hour fundraising appeal for The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, helping to support the purchase of the very latest equipment, lifesaving research and vital services for patients and their families. This year, Radiothon will be held on Friday 16 October from 6am – 6pm and will see all donations made on the day doubled by generous matchers.

For the first time in Radiothon history, the day will culminate in a 90-minute virtual event hosted by Australian TV presenter, Melissa Doyle. The virtual event will run from 4pm – 5.30pm on radiothon.org.au and will include entertainment, special performances and stories from patients, families and staff to show just how important your support is. 

More information will be shared closer to the date but for now, mark Friday 16 October 2020 in your diaries.

NEWS FLASH (17/10/20) - Radiothon 2020 raised over $1.4 Million!!

On Sat 17th Oct we teamed up with Windsor Hair Dressing business Mousse & Co. to raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer. It was a great morning and we enjoyed meeting many of the locals. Bossanovia did a great job saying G'day to all that called in. A big thank you to all that donated. $600 was raised over a few hours!
